Comet NEOWISE 2020F3: July 2020

This comet was discovered on March 27, 2020 by the Wide-field infrared survey explorer(WISE) space telescope. It reached perihelion on July 6th 2020, at a distance of 0.295 AU. Its trajectory across the sky had it well placed for Northern Hemisphere observers. I first observed the comet on July 10th in the morning sky. It quickly transitioned into an evening sky object and I first saw it on July 13. However, I could not image it because of clouds. I first imaged it as an evening object on July 17th. I continued to image the comet until July 24th. During this time the magnitude varied between 1st and 3rd magnitude. It had come closest to earth on July 23rd at a distance of 0.69 AU. By July 25th, it had faded to magnitude 4 but was still a bright enough object to see in a dark sky.

Shortly after this, the moon began to interfere and the comet's magnitude dropped making it a telescopic object.

These images were taken on the morning of July 10, 2020.
