Mars 2020 opposition
The 2020 was better placed than the 2018 opposition with the declination being near the celestial equator. The planet reached opposition in October and had an apparent angular size of 22.5". The results of combining the ZWO ASI290MC and my Meade 10-inch SCT produced some very good results, when the atmosphere was stable. The best images were taken in late October and early November. The Solis Lacus and Chryse regions had good detail. The November 9 shot of Hellas and Syrtis Major was also very good. The next favorable series of oppositions occur in 2031-2037. Maybe I will get a better planetary camera and a new telescope to image Mars for those oppositions.
