This is a reflection nebula that is near the bright star Rigel, which is illuminating the cloud. The shape gives the impression of a witch's head. Its location, in declination, also leads to imaging Geosynchronous satellites crossing the nebula from northerly latitudes. This is best recorded using medium focal length lenses (200-400mm) and APS sensors/Digital SLRs.
