Magnitude: IC 405 - 6.0 IC 410 - 7.5 Angular size: IC 405 - 37' X 10' IC 410 - 11' IC 405 is a combination emission and reflection nebula. IC 410 is an emission nebula. The name of the flaming star has to do with the nebula surrounding the bright star, which gives the impression of a fire around the star. The name of the tadpole for IC 410 has to do with a faint stream of nebulosity stretching northward that is not recorded very well in the image below. Combined with the mass of nebulosity as its head, it looks like a tadpole.
