Another object that is frequently photographed is this region of Orion. NGC 2024 is the "Flame" or "Maple leaf" nebula. It is an emission nebula that is unrelated to the star, Alnitak, which is next to it. The main target is B33, which is the Horse Head nebula due its obvious shape. While the "Horse Head" is relatively small, the entire nebula complex is much larger than that. Thi s is a celestial showpiece and needs to be on any astrophotography list.
