Exposure time: A mosaic of two stacks of 16 five-minute exposures at ISO 800.

Angular size: 1.3 degrees

This large nebula surrounds the open cluster NGC 2244. This is one of the winter's celestial showpieces. Because of its size it took two images merged together in a mosaic to produce this image. It can easily be photographed using medium focal length instruments (200-400 mm).
