Instrument: 6-inch F5 reflector with sky watcher coma corrector and modified Nikon D3300.

Exposure time: A stack of 16 five-minute exposures at ISO 800.

Magnitude: 10.2

Angular size: 17.0' X 2.2'

This is a large edge-on galaxy, which does not have a nucleus that is very bright. The galaxy is mostly uniform in brightness, which is why it is called "the silver needle". It is well over the 10' limit to qualify to be on the list of astrophotography targets.
