Magnitude: M84 - 9.1 M86 - 8.9 Angular size: M84 - 6.5' X 5.6' M86 - 8.9' X 5.8' M84 and 86 are less than the 10' limit but they are part of Markarian's chain of galaxies, which is a celestial showpiece when it comes to imaging. This first image shows the pair and the immediately surrounding galaxies.
This image was taken with a 6-inch reflector and shows all the galaxies in Markarian's chain.
