Magnitude: M49 - 8.4 NGC 4535- 10.73 NGC 4526 - 10.7 Angular size: M49 - 10.2' X 8.3' NGC 4535 - 11.8' X 11.0' NGC 4526 - 7.2' X 2.4' This group of galaxies are located in the southern area of the Virgo super cluster. They present different types of galaxies that are "hidden gems" worth imaging. NGC 4535 is a barred spiral galaxy located on the left side of this image. The nearby galaxy NGC 4535a is small galaxy located just above the main galaxy. It is much farther away and is just an optical alignment. NGC 4535 is called the "lost galaxy" because it has a low surface brightness. M49 is the large elliptical galaxy to the right side of the frame. NGC 4526 is an edge-on lenticular galaxy with with a bar across the center. It is located at the bottom left.
