The Rho Ophiuchi dust complex surrounds the Rho Ophiuchi star system and encompasses the bright star Antares. It covers a large area of the sky and requires a short focal length lens or involves creating a mosaic of several images with a medium focal length lens.
This image was taken with an 85mm lens and an ASI 2600 MC astro camera. It shows the Rho Ophiuchi complex as well as surrounding dark nebulae, the "Blue Horsehead" (AP69), and nebulosity surrounding stars at the head of scorpio.
This image of the central complex was taken by a Redcat 51 and ASI 2600MC. ![]() |
